Andrews' Raiders . . .
24 Men from Ohio

This program discusses Andrews' Raiders and the "Great Locomotive Chase".

  •  In 1862, a raid into Confederate Territory was
performed, to disrupt communication and railroad
lines between Atlanta, Georgia and Chattanooga,
       Tennessee.
  •  The military raid was led by a civilian named James
Andrews.  The group would forever be known as,
        "Andrews' Raiders".
  •  The raid would be referred to as, "The Great
        Locomotive Chase".
  •  Andrews' Raiders (22 military and 2 civilian) were
        all from Ohio.
  •  The first Medals of Honor were issued for this raid.
  •  The raid, maps, the aftermath and selected
biographies are included in this talk.

The program is performed in conjunction with Mr. George's book, "Ohio and the
    American Civil War".
